Treatments

Developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 1930's, Pilates is a mind-body exercise programme aimed at improving strength, flexibility and overall posture. Targeting the deep postural muscles of the abdomen and spine the technique strengthens and tones muscles from the 'inside out', gently realigning and reshaping the body.

With systematic practice of specific exercises and breathing techniques, Pilates has proven effective not only as a fitness regime in itself, but also as an important complement to physical rehabilitation of all kind.

Pilates can help:

  • Improve your posture and muscle tone
  • Reduce recurring back problems
  • Aid injury prevention and rehabilitation
  • Reduce stress, helping you relax and unwind
  • Lengthen stiff or tight muscles
  • Enhance body awareness
  • Aid recovery after child birth

Pilates focuses on quality not quantity of movement and offers a unique form of exercise that emphasises precision and control rather than repetition and power. For this reason Pilates is best carried out on a one to one basis.

Classes
Building on the original Pilates principles, our individually tailored fitness programmes focus on and develop core strength, flexibility and posture.
Exercises are mat based incorporating the use of props, such as foam rollers, swiss balls, resistance bands and rings.

Attire
Clothing that allows you to move easily is ideal. For example, a pair of tracksuit trousers or leggings with a t-shirt.
