Developed
by Joseph Pilates in the early 1930's, Pilates is a mind-body exercise programme
aimed at improving strength, flexibility and overall posture. Targeting
the deep postural muscles of the abdomen and spine the technique strengthens
and tones muscles from the 'inside out', gently realigning and reshaping
the body.
With systematic practice of specific exercises and breathing techniques, Pilates has proven effective not only as a fitness regime in itself, but also as an important complement to physical rehabilitation of all kind. Pilates can help:
